A cover letter is the part of an application you redo every time. Same contact block at the top, different company underneath, and three or four paragraphs in the middle that only make sense for this one job.

One thing to be clear about first, since “generator” has come to mean something else: this page does not write those paragraphs. Nothing here invents enthusiasm for a job it has not read about. You supply the words; the page handles the address block, the date, the page breaks, and the PDF.

Type into the three cards, watch the letter assemble itself beside the form, and press Download PDF. No account, no watermark, no charge at the last step. The greeting and sign-off arrive filled in as a starting point.

Leave a blank line between paragraphs and each becomes its own paragraph in the letter. A single line break inside a paragraph is a soft wrap, so you can write however is comfortable in the box.

Plain formatting, because that is what gets read

Download PDF opens your browser’s print dialog, where you pick “Save as PDF”. No PDF library is involved: the browser’s own print engine renders the letter, so the file holds real text that can be selected and searched, not an image of text.

The layout is one column in reading order: your contact details, the date, who it is addressed to, the greeting, your paragraphs, the sign-off. Letter or A4, and the readout under the preview says when it has spilled onto a second page.

Letters often pass through applicant tracking software before a person opens them, and decorative layouts scramble there. Plain text in one column parses most reliably. Nobody can promise a specific system will read a given file correctly, so this page does not.

Matching the resume you already wrote

If you built a resume in this browser with the NoAdsTools resume builder, a “Use my details from a resume” control appears at the top of the form. Pick one, press Copy details, and your name, email, phone, and location come across without retyping.

It reads those resumes and does nothing else. It never edits or deletes one, and it stays hidden when no resume is saved here, so it is never a dropdown pretending to have found something.

Where the letter lives

In this browser, and nowhere else.

Your draft autosaves a moment after you stop typing, so a refresh never loses it. Export .json gives you a copy you own, and Import brings it back.

Nothing you type is uploaded, and this page makes no third-party requests at all, ever. No analytics, no trackers, no code from anywhere but this site. Here is a simple way to prove it: once the page has loaded, turn the network off. You can still write, produce the PDF, and export the .json.

The full source is public on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license, and the privacy page says the same about this tool in a single line.

Is this a free cover letter generator online?

Yes. It runs in your browser, the PDF is free and unwatermarked, and there is no account or email address to hand over. The greeting, sign-off, and structure come pre-filled, so it doubles as a free cover letter template.

Does it write the letter for me?

No. There is no AI here and no library of stock sentences. It handles the layout, the date and address block, the page breaks, and the PDF. The words are yours.

Is my cover letter uploaded anywhere?

No. The form, the preview, and the PDF are all produced on your device, and this page makes no third-party requests, so there is nowhere for the text to go. Watch the Network tab in your developer tools to confirm it.

Can it fill in my details from a resume?

Yes, if the resume was built in this browser with the resume builder. One click copies your name, email, phone, and location across. It only reads those resumes, never changes them, and it is hidden when there are none.

Where is the letter saved, and will clearing it delete my resume?

In this browser’s local storage on this device, so clearing your browsing data clears it too. “Clear my data” asks for a second click, and removes letters only; a saved resume is left alone.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The Edit and Preview buttons swap between the form and the letter, and saving the PDF uses your mobile browser’s print or share flow.
